Life Update

Since the last time I talked to you, blank white word doctument page that I'll soon be copying and pasting into blogger and making a blog post. I was about to embark on a media free day. I have to say that it went very well. I hung out with Keith and played board games with my roommates, it was a pretty good day. I want to have more days like this in my life, and fewer spent on the floor at Barnes and Noble using their internet.

I think I have mentioned before that I am writing again. I have re-made my webook page and there will be a link to in the parentheses that follow this sentence (http://www.webook.com/project/From-the-Center-of-Our-Universe-1). I would really enjoy it if you checked it out and analyze the heck out of it.

I have also become a Monday. I know, it's weird, being a Monday. I don't know all the details yet, we're still working on a start date and rules and stuff but we should be ready to go in about a week. I'm excited. It's five girls, including Noelles, who has taken on the Wednesday role of this collab, and three other Nerdfighters from the Ning. I'm excited to try this collab thing again with people I don't know. I loved doing Sassy videos; I miss the days of no stressful Sassy weeks. And I'm hoping that this will work out. We all seem to be really into making it work and getting it off the ground.

When I get more information on the collab, I will update you.

On the job front, things are looking as dismal as ever! I really, really need and want a job. I as much as I love my roommates and our apartment, I want to leave it, and go somewhere else for five hours at a time and bring home money from that place. It would be golden, but alas, the work does not want me. Believe me, I've been trying to get a job like you don't even know.

I guess that is it really. I will be making a YouTube video sometime this week I think. I just need an idea for one. I'll think of something.

AND THAT IS THE END OF THE STORY

Today is awesome because of the woman currently at Barnes and Noble wearing lime green tights, one purple Chuck Taylor high top and one powder Blue one, a plaid white and blue striped skirt and a plaid jacket.

connections continued

This is a continuation of the blog I wrote about an hour ago, which should be below this one, so I suggest you read that one, before this one, or this one will make little to no sense.

January 11, 2009 (I'm going to guess at most of this, lack of internet):
(Both my roommates are working tonight, so this is what I do when they aren't home. This would be different if they were home, because I, like, talk to them, and stuff)

7:30: awoken by loud honking coming from next door. Crazy truck lady is at it again
7:30-9:00: I stare at my ceiling, waiting for the alarm to go off.
9:00 Phone alarm goes off. (I get my first Tweets to my phone around this time)
9:00 -9:30 listen to IPod whilst in the shower and getting dressed
10:30-11: Listening to the radio in the car as I drive Tabby to work
11:15- 2:00: Listen to music as I: upload the video I recorded yesterday, read several blogs. Write two blogs, play around on facebook, update and read twitter updates, work on the novel and avoid being seen by several Barnes and Noble employees.
2:00 listen to music on the way to Olive Garden to ask them for the 13458934275869 time if they will please hire me
2:10-2:40: drive home listening to the radio and/or Adam Lambert's cd
2:40-3:30 Read the new John Irving book while listening to my IPod.
3:30-4:30 Clean while listening to my IPod
5ish: eat dinner, while listening to my IPod
6ish: Put in first movie of the night.
8ish: clean up kitchen, while listening to the IPod
8:30 ish: work on my novel, while listens to music
11:30ish Roommates return home, have converstation while listening to music
12ish Work on Novel while listening to music
1:30ish go to sleep.

Basically from the moment I wake up until I go to sleep I'm listening to music. I'm kind of excited to see how tomorrow will work.

I'm afriad that my phone will explode when I turn it back on Wednesday. But that is a risk I'm going to have to take.

AND THAT IS THE END OF THE STORY

connections

I recently uploaded a video to youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1aCpSC3J90) about connections. Basically it's about how, because of the lack of Internet in the apa
rtment, I've been thinking about how there are screens between human connections.

When I was a senior in high school, in my mass media and communications class, we did a social experiment where each of the kids in the class avoided media completely for two days, and satuated themselves with media for a day. Basically, in my video I call upon anyone that sees the video to try it out this project for a day. For me this day will be tomorrow.

In case you are intersted in joining me in the media avoidance day these are the "rules" to media avoidance. They are the same ones for the sidebar of the video.

The Rules:(because there has to be rules)

1. Spend one day writing down what a normal day looks like media wise. I will be doing this in my blog today.

2. The next day, avoid all forms of media. This includes but is not limited to:
-television
-the computer
-texting
-twitter
-movies
-music
What is allowed:
-books
-cell phones (for calling purposes only)
- School and work purpose computer use. (just don't hope on facebook while doing that research paper)

3. Document the day, write down what you're feeling and what you do to replace media in our life.

You can answer these questions if you wish
-What am I doing in place of being on the computer (watching tv, etc)
-Do I feel more connected to the people around me?
-(If your friends are not particapating) Do they help or hinder the expirement?

4. Tell me about it. (ok, you don't have to do this one, but I would really like to hear about if you decide to join me.)

I'm going to post a blog in about an hour that has my regular day with media, since I don't have the internet regularly, it's easier for me to just list everything out before I leave Barnes and Noble today.

AND THAT IS THE END OF THE STORY

today is awesome becase I think that this will be different, and I hope people will do it with me.

THIS is what I have to do

So...
It is currently the 5th of January, and I've read 4 books I don't know if this is oddly disturbing, or awesome (please note that I drove to 50 miles north in a snow storm, then got pissed off for no reason at my friend, and decided to drive home, instead of staying at her house which, honestly, if I had any patience, I would have, but I don't so I just get mad and storm off).
I've been reading the Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty, which has a lot to do with the recommendation from Hayley G Hoover (http://hayleyghoover.blogspot.com/), and her excitement of the 5th book which came out over the summer or early fall. I watched her video about it, and I was like "I MUST read these books." So I am, and I drove 100 miles in a snow storm to buy the third one, so if there is a better endorsement of the awesome that is these books, I can't really think of one.

I've been reading so much because we don't have internet, except at strange hours of the night, like now, and as much as I love random tv shows, I don't really watch that much TV. So books it is.
I need to start writing again. I promised myself that I wouldn't stay up all night tonight wondering what happens in the fictional life of Jessica Darling and her friends, but I really want to, and right now my sleep cycle is 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. So I have to do something with my time besides staring at the ceiling.

I want to blog and vlog more, be more internet connected as it is, but this normally includes a drive to either Barnes and Noble, (a store which I'm technically not allowed in) or Tim Hortons' (a store in which I feel like I have to buy something to be in there stealing internet from the Comfort Inn across the street).

I need to focus my energy on writing and editing Universe, and to get it up on the Internet again. I liked having strangers read it, it was like it was real or something. Reading Megan McCafferty's books have reminded me why I want to write, I love books like that.

I’m going to write. I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes, I’m sure of it.

AND THAT IS THE END OF THE STORY

Today is awesome, because it was girls night with the girls my roommates work with, and I’m pretty sure I have new friends now. :)
